I gotta thank the wonderful blog S & R for this post. Today she posted some link loves, and one of them caught my eye...100 Abandoned Houses. I LOVE ABANDONED HOUSES and rural exploration. Something about these places really captures my imagination. There's a couple of old houses out by my home town I've always wanted to check out, but just never really had the guts or time to do it.
I thought I'd share some images from the awesome website, 100 Abandoned Houses.
I decided to look up some other abandoned homes and ghost town photos. There's tons of websites out there dedicated to these former structures. Here's a few samplings (links under the photos, check them out!) :

This is a photo from Cadomin. Apparently there's still some inhabitants living there. I've driven past the road sign numerous times on the way to Jasper, but I've never ventured to the town. Maybe I will this summer.
Have you ever been to a ghost town? What was it like? I'm honestly really curious to hear other people's stories! Maybe I can somehow feature them on Folklore Friday...
Later gators,

Creepy pics, but it's a completely awesome post! Hope you do more like this. :D
I think I might. It's really fascinating looking this stuff up!
ooh creepy. There are plenty of creepy houses around here. I desperately need to get a camera to take pictures of them!! Eek.
I saw a weird creepy abandoned pier on some random lake on some random roadtrip as a child. I've asked my parents about it a billion times and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Maybe I imagined it.
Ooh, kind of creepy, but also very interesting!
There are a lot of abandoned old houses here and I always wonder what's the story behind all of them...weird!
Ugh, they all look so cool. i love old houses
Oooh how amazing and creepy. A ghost town adventure sounds like a fun and spooky trip. I'm not sure of any ghost towns near by, but... we have Fort Morgan (an old shut down civil war fort) down here in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It's kind of spooky and eerie, and of course there are those rumors that soldiers still walk the grounds at night keeping an eye out for the enemy. Hope to see more posts :)
I love your new feature. The first thing I googled when I got my Internet were haunted places, spooky stories and similar lol. Lately I have been avoiding anything unpleasing or unnatural and then you show up with this and here we go again. :))
P.S. I posted some Instructions for my blog buttons. I am planning to ad yours too, I just need to go through the process of resizing them all so they could fit my sidebar. Hard work, but someone's gotta do it, ey?! ;)
they are so fascinating! i always wonder about the life story behind old dilapidated homes like those. your road trippin' plans sound rad lades. i bet you girls will get up to much mischief and that's a good thing.
never been to one myself, ghosty stuff kinda scares me and i would expect a lot of those might have the haunts <*o*>
i will admire from afar - haha ♥
Big loves to you Erin xo
The more I think about roadtripping, the more excited I get. You have no idea how antsy I am for summer!!!
Oh no, look at the beauty of these houses. They could be wonderful homes! It's a shamed they're abandoned... Thank you for sharing!!
That is absolutely one more thing I need to be more attentive of, apart from trees. I need to keep my eyes open on road trips!!
Did you ever read "Papertowns" by John Green. It's about those abandoned houses, towns and well, papertowns. :)
xo.
Creepy! But amazing!
I don't think I know what a ghost town is. Is it literally an abandoned town? You don't really see very many abandoned house in the UK. I'm going to be on the look for them now though x
Oooo. I've found one. Tyneham in Dorset. Spooky ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyneham
Sunny...it sure is! There's quite a few abandoned towns here. Weird concept, I know. Check out the Tumblr link "Fuck Yeah Ghost Towns" I posted, there's photos from all over the world; Cambodia, Namibia, Luxembourg, Georgia (the country), etc...
Danielle...you should totally take some photos! I'd love see the buildings there!
Erin...I think I had something similar like that happen with me when we went on a trip to Montana. It's funny how certain images as a child stick with you.
Chrissy...I wonder the same thing. It'd be neat to actually research the buildings and find out some history of who use to live in them.
Renee...same! My dream is to move into an old "heritage house" (as we call them in Edmonton).
Dani...old army forts seem to be the creepiest! Do you watch "Ghost Adventures"? I use to enjoy that show and I found the forts were the creepiest...besides the insane asylums!
Adrienne...I'm still waiting on stories to be submitted for the Folklore Friday, but I think it'll be really awesome! Can't wait!!!
Lynn...if we do go, I promise I'll take lots of photos!
S & R...back at you! <3
Nadine...I was thinking the same thing, wouldn't they be neat if they were renovated? And I haven't read "Papertowns"...I'll check it out.
Claire...they are really! I'm in awe, but kinda creeped out!
Seriously SO creepy. This is where scary movies start!
