| A peek inside my edit suite. Tea is a must. As are the Onion postcards. |
For those who don't know what is involved in video editing, let me sum it up for you. I basically take raw footage, choose which shots go to air, what audio would make a good sound up (they last 2-5 seconds long), and make it pretty. Audio sweetening, colour correcting...wham, bam, thank you ma'am.
This is where my problem begins.
I can't watch anything without analyzing the eff out of it.
"Why the hell is that audio so low?"
"Someone sure crapped the bed on that white balancing."
I'm kinda curious to hear about some of your relaxation techniques. How do you disassociate from work when you get home? I know for me watching less TV will help...but dammit, I need my HGTV fix!
So, that's what's on my mind today. Tune in tomorrow to see what I spout off.
Later gators!

I honestly never thought about that stuff until you posted this. It's got to be so hard to shut your brain off when your job revolves around editing for TV.. I don't have techniques, but I wish you luck!
HI YOU!!! Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I've been enjoying life (and my free time) so I've been MIA lately. I hope you're doing well. I love the blog linky you made for my blog. It's super cute. Miss you!

haha! Well hubs is a carpenter and we can't go anywhere without him picking apart the wood work and workmanship (or lack of). Then again, i always have to sample the ice cream if we go amywhere, well got to check out the competition!
My son does video editing-not for a job or anything-just because he loves it..and he is always pointing out things when we watch tv or a movie..so I hear ya! Would be nice to be able to leave work at work!
What a neat job though! Found you through FN! B Sheppard
i'm totally the same way. just ridiculous. my mind never really does what i want it to though, so i have no techniques to share with you other than sleep lots.
this is why i could never be a psychiatrist.
That is so funny to me, I've never thought about those types of things when watching t.v. I do think about the composition of certain scenes in movies, but that's about it. Haha, don't you love how sometimes you can never leave your work at work?
I relax by reading or crocheting, but then I usually just fall asleep... which is also one of my favorite things to do!
I'm CONSTANTLY judging people's tattoos, like 24-7. I think it's the same with anything anybody does...too bad yours is part of your after-work relaxy time.
I only follow tattoo blogs and stuff on my work emails/twitter accounts so it doesn't follow me home. And I never watch Miami Ink or anything or I get all stressed out and angry. hahaha
You job sounds awesome!
I find the best relaxation tips are getting into my pj's (i usually finish quite late) talking to people online and yes, tv does help :D x
Oh my goodness! That sounds nightmarish D: I know Ed feels the same way when playing games but he's gotten a little better about just being able to enjoy them for what they are. I vote for reading, a bath, or an easy craft project. Maybe watch some old classics that you wouldnt want to scrutinize. *hugs*
